Print this page (Ctrl+P / ⌘P) and post it where technicians sign in, or add it to your written electronic-monitoring policy. Ontario's Employment Standards Act requires an employer with 25 or more employees to have such a policy and give it to every employee. A smaller shop is not required to have one; telling technicians what the board records before their first shift is the right thing to do either way. Not legal advice.

What the board is

Shop Board Pro is this shop's live work-order board: the wall screen that announces work, the floor tablet where technicians take it, and the front-desk screen where work orders are posted.

What it records about you

Floor sign-in and sign-out at the tablet. This sets the order in which the board calls technicians. It is a "ready for work" signal, not a record of your hours; the shop's normal time records are unchanged by it.
Which work orders you take, transfer, hand back or complete, and when. The board uses this to run a fair rotation and to show elapsed time on each job.
When available work you were qualified for was left waiting while you were signed in and free. The board counts these so the rotation stays fair. After a set number in a day the board shows a small marker beside your number and tells management. The count resets daily and a manager can clear it.
Your skill or credential tier (Installer, Apprentice and level, or Licensed), your licence, card or training-agreement number if the shop enters it, and its expiry. The board uses these to decide who may take compulsory-trade work.
A PIN you use at the tablet, stored only in a scrambled form that nobody can read back.

What it does not record

No location tracking, no camera, no microphone, no keystrokes, no browsing. Nothing about you outside the shop's own screens.

How the shop uses it

To run the floor fairly and see the day. Any indicator the board shows is information for a manager's judgment. Decisions about your employment are made by a person, not by the board.

Who can see it

Your shop's managers. The service provider's staff can see counts, settings and timestamps to support the shop, and cannot read the content of shop messages, work orders or reports; every look at the shop's setup is logged where the shop can see it.
